Kitsune: Fox

Alright, here's my first acrylic-based painting in a hundred years. It was pretty weird getting back into them...the last full on acrylic painting I pulled off was back in 2003 (here). So this piece was pretty much a confidence builder to get back into the flow of it. I'll start easing back into the more crazier shit later, hehe.

Ok I have some group show paintings I need to get started on in the next couple of weeks. One of them is the upcoming "Cajun Nation Halloween Benefit". Since it's going to be a Halloween type of theme, I found this old sketch from last year which I'll use for the painting:



My planned medium for this painting is a mixed media / acrylic kind of thing. I haven't painted with acrylics in a LOOOOOOOONG time. But with this painting I'm going to document my process (as well as my f**k-ups!) so we'll see how it goes. My goal is to finish this painting in one day.

I'm also in the process of slooowly updating my webpage. The last time it got updated was in 2003!!! I'll be adding some pieces I've done since that time, but I'll post here when I've done some extensive updates.

Fun With ATM Envelopes

Ok so on saturday I was doing my laundry at the very clean "Nice & Clean Laundry" in Glendale and I was bored and needed something to draw on. So I started sketching crap on an ATM envelope. Nothing crazy or anything...but I'm trying to figure out a sketch for a painting I'm gonna start this weekend for a show.

Yeah yeah, it's been a while since I last posted, but I'm a busy bee. Anyways, here's some title cards I painted for the cartoon show, "Coconut Fred's Fruit Salad Island". I used photoshop to paint these up...it's just soooo much faster. I try to keep everything as "painterly" as possible...so it was important for me to customize my digital brushes according to how I would paint using the real stuff. Anyways, here's the title card from the first show, another from an upcoming show and one that is still in progress, but mostly finished.

Sweet Fairy Rides

I'm posting this cause this is so bad it's not good, but bad. I like bad fantasy art, don't want to draw it, but there's a certain charm to it. Anyways, in G-dale they had this thing called "Cruise Night" where they close off part the city and line the streets with all these vintage cars. Really neat. I've never seen so many rock-a-billies and cholos in my life. Yeah, this happened a while back, but i have a shit load to catch up on....i have work ya knows.

Okay I was hanging out in Sacramento when I came across this statue. DUDE, HE HAS A LION HEAD for a DICK TIP!!! He must be the Greek God of Dick Tips. Or maybe he is from GWAR. Not sure. Mad props to the women that actually let him inside their coochers.

Frida the Rabbit

This is my rabbit Frida. But Frida is a dude. But when I got him, I thought he was a she 'cause he fooled me with that cute mascara stuff around his eyes. Then he popped a boner and I knew my mistake. But I still kept calling him Frida, kind of like that song by Johnny Cash called "A Boy Named Sue". In the song, Sue is like a criminal murderer. And in the movie "Swingers", one of the characters is named "Sue" and they make reference to that song. So now I don't feel so bad calling my male bunny "Frida". Like he gives a shit.

I did this for an artshow...the subject was 80s videogames. I thought q-bert would be quite neato to do. q-bert is like everyone else...girls messing up our lives! i kid, i kid!!! i think the site for the artshow is www.iam8bit.net .

this is my first blog...i hope it's my last. i'm going to talk about how i used to eat ketchup with rice in kindergarten. yes, that's what my teachers fed us at school. no i didn't come from a third world country...i came from the US of A. i guess times were hard at our elementary school. but i forgive them.
